The difference between lose and loose

  • lose is a verb and means to experience a loss
    • “You'll lose against me.”
    • “My dad will kill me if I lose his wallet!”
  • The word loose is an adjective and it is the opposite of tight and contained
    • “The screw is loose. You need to tighten it up!”
    • “The dog is loose. Run!”

You cannot mix them up!
